DEALERSHIP PAINT PROTECTION - IS IT WORTH IT?
Car dealers sell cars. Not many are skilled or well versed in car detailing and neither are the staff members or those tasked with preparing your new car for both pre-sale or post sale. What this means is it is hard to rely upon a dealership to provide the level of care and attention needed in car detailing when preparing your paint protection on your new car, be that second hand or off the production line. Ultimately, it is your decision, however we would recommend speaking with a third party detailer before accepting dealership paint protection.
Another way to look at it is that you can probably do a similar job yourself using easily acquired products, if you have the time and inclination. Or you could get an independent car detailer to do the job for you, and quite possibly for the same price as dealer wants to charge you. Alternatively, you could look at paint protection as something else to bargain over. Yes, it’s worth having, but probably not installed by a main dealer. A dealership is more concerned with their profit margin, so always get advice from a car detailing specialist before you decide to hand over your cash.
To summarise, dealerships are up selling people with promises of lifelong paint protection for their vehicles, with no facts or data to back up their claims. These paint protection packages are offered by third party companies that appear to have little to no online presence or after care protocol in place.
